OTSG Launches General Store

I am proud to announce a new service added to the OTSG.  In addition to shopping for your new old crappy 10-speed on Craigslist and eBay, you can now shop for new tires, tubes, fenders, bags and accessories for said crappy 10-speed.   OTSG’s unlauded, unanticpated Old Ten Speed General Store has most everything you need to get that crappy bike back on the road.   I will be working in the coming weeks to expand the selection(as every item is hand picked by me), but if you would like to offer a suggestion please don’t hesitate!  Thanks and enjoy your stay.

Natanael’s 1986 Caloi 10

Natanael has returned to the OTSG with his beloved 1986 Caloi 10 (winner of OTSOTM for September 2008). This time, he has returned it to it’s original color.

See more pics on his Flickr page, and be sure to check out his own Brazilian OTSG – Aquela Antiga Bicicleta.

Bought this Huffy Bay Pointe at a local charity thrift shop for $15. It had all its parts and just a little rust on the (thin) chrome. I tore it all the way down and greased and adjusted everything. It is amazing what a little car wax and steel wool can do. The tires and tubes are original It was probably made when I was a 10th grader in 1983–the last digit of the serial number is “3.” Also, it has a U.S. Cycling Team decal, indicating that it was sold around the time of the 1984 Olympics. I’m sure this is just like the machines they rode in the games, because it has a fancy French deraillieur. This perfect specimen was priced at half what they were selling a “mountain bike” for. That’s good for me, I like these dorky upright bikes.

Thanks Edward

Found this forelorned beauty for $10 @ a thrift shop. A LOT of elbow grease, saddle change, lube and adjustment…viola! Cute small 26″wheels. A small person’s delight.

Thanks Julie
