We praise the best. We vilify the worst...and now we have awards and websites to celebrate the mediocre. Let no one be left behind. BianchiBrad - via FGGF

To today’s OTS comes to us from Bob H. in Madison, Wisconsin. A 1985 Schwinn Le Tour.
If I were into naming inanimate objects, I might call this “Ol’ Blue.” Not the oldest bike I own, but the only one I purchased new. It moved around with me for years w/o getting ridden a lot, but over the last 6-7 years has been ridden plenty. Original steel wheels went bye-bye once I realized how exciting wet braking was! Fenders, saddle & shifters are not original to this bike, pictured in all it’s late winter, muddy glory!
His Craigsness, Joe B., has another flip offering. A mid to late ’80s Schwinn Caliente. Hot, hot, hot!
Bought for $10 off craigslist. Had to replace the front wheel with another used one for $10. Added a water bottle cage, a chrome rear rack, new reflectors, new tires – tubes & rim strips. Sold in an hour on craigslist for $160. It’s that “Old Ten Speed Gallery.com” sticker that sells ‘em! Sorry about the crappy photos from in the basement. It rained today.
Submitting this on March 10. Seems we’re getting a little highbrow with Cannondale, Trek and Motobecane. Not that there is anything wrong with these fine bikes, but I thought it was time for a crappy old Murray.Rescued this school bus yellow beauty just minutes ahead of the garbage truck. Pumped some air into the tires, replaced a few broken bits and shined up those awesome psychedelic graphics. Now I guess I have to ride it. Keepin’ it Crappy Dave M
This being Dry-rot Thursday, I thought this 1973 Schwinn Varsity was a most fitting choice. Since Jeff didn’t include vivid description of how he came to acquire such a fine 10-speed steed and his future plans for it, I will take the liberty of writing one for him.
Greetings Cameron,
This is my 1973 Schwinn Varsity. I
Happy Highbrow Hump Day! Today’s highbrow OTS is not what it appears. It claims to be Marinoni, but Doug the owner informs me that this doesn’t check out. He suspects it to be mid ’70s French. Note the center-pulls and levers wif gol-toof stylz!
This $20. re-cycling depot find turned out to be a diamond It is NOT however a Marinoni according to the man himself.
Bocama lugs, Simplex drop-outs, Half wrap stays, Super LJ derailleurs, Mafac Competition (gold) brakeset ,T.A crankset. wheels (not shown) Mavic tubular (also gold) laced to black Normandy hubs. I’ve been having a hard time Identifying this frame. Ideas? I think its a 1975
