This late ’70s Ross Eurosport leadsled in olive drab is courtesy of Craig C.

I bought three bikes at a yard sale about a year and a half ago. Two ten speeds and a three speed. I was going to fix the Columbia first but asked my local shop for advice and the recommended doing the Ross. I decided to do some research and found your website.
Ross Eurosport . Not sure of the exact age The head badge is metal and shows New York (the original plant ) The rims were out of round but was able to buy a used set for $10. News tubes / tires and brakes / cables. I’ve greased her up as much as possible without a whole strip down.
Runs wonderfully smooth . Cushy seat… Smooth shifting. .. 27″ Tires. Stops Beautifully. The only faults I can name are the color and the weight . This things is heavy.
Thanks Craig
Wow, what a ride! At this point Greg, I’d forget the drops and opt for some ape-hangers instead.

As I was sitting in a hotel for a few weeks in Minneapolis I was itching for a bike ride over the Memorial Day Weekend (05/10). That is when I found this wonderful mid 80′s Raleigh Marathon that had been hanging in a divorce’s garage (for a few years by the look of it). $60, a bit of air in the tires and a minor seat adjustment entertained me for just under fifty miles around the Minneapolis Greenways that afternoon. I started out just looking for something I could discard after the end of my summer deployment (survey in Alaska). $60 is right in that price range, but I like this bike so much, I went out and bought a few necessary accessories (lock, tool kit, helmet, and lights), and am sure that I will find it difficult to part with at the summer’s end. The frame is pretty tall. There is a 61 stamped on the steering head. I suppose this means 61 cm. As I am 6 foot, it is just a bit tall for me, but it feels really good. I like the geometry. You can see by the photos that I have the seat in the lowest position and the previous owner had replaced the dropped bars for a straight bar. Perhaps I will replace the dropped bar if I decide to keep it.

Our OTS representative in Poland, Juhas, has sent us another brilliant ride for our enjoyment. This is his Halford’s 10-Speed.

Year: ?? Make: England? Model: ?? Halford’s
Hi there,
This is my “new” restored old ten speeder. I have bought two bikes on scrapyard. Halford’s with full Shimano 600 group (presented on photos) and 1984 Raleigh Quasar 12. Both of them got new black professional paint-job and all parts restored. I don’t have any information about this bike, if anyone know something about it, please comment my submit. Raleigh will be in my next submission.
Greetings from Poland Juhas
Thanks Juhas
Everyone welcome our first Indonesian OTS entry from Yuan in Jakarta. This is his Bridgestone RR2000.

Hi,
My name is Yuan from Jakarta, Indonesia. Recently i use my uncle’s road bike. He used to ride it in triathlon race and the entire of his life travel around and working, he brought this road bike to Jakarta from Japan and then he leave it when he back to Japan. Nowadays, many fixies hit the street and I’m gather around with them. I’m the only one road bike among them, my first plan is to convert it from road to fixie after i change the tires & the pedals. I still keep this bike on the track of road bike because oldies is goodies, even fixie scene spread around the globe… its just a trend anyway, later the true fixie will come out. This is my bike Bridgstone RR2000 with new paint. Sorry i don’t the year of the bike, maybe you or other can give me a details info about it.

Art F’s 79 to 83 Peugeot, and a side story.

You really have to be a detective to identify Peugeot model years . Here is what I found http://cyclespeugeot.com/ModelID.html so I found out that this is a 79-83 Peugeot. And then you can see which kind lion symbol is on the downtube . This bike had a type V lion symbol which I like best. Also had nice simple steel Huret derailleurs that were the same ones my 74 Raleigh Super Course had for it’s first few years .More on that in a later submission. But my question to all the Peugeot aficionados is ” Do the dimpled steel rims on Peugeots produce braking in the rain as well as alloy rims? They are a big improvement over chromed steel rims but I wonder how much better. A side story : this bike came with Michelin Club 27 X 1-1/8 tires which were original equipment and still in good condition. But I had lots of flats when I experimented with 1-1/8 tires commuting on the Raleigh Super Course . These days I put 1-3/8 tires on all OTS bikes . But I couldn’t trash the Michelin Club tires after I took them off and decided I would try to sell them . While researching what these cost new (not made anymore) I found someone on a Raleigh Bike forum who wanted original type Michelin club for his 82 Raleigh that he is trying to keep authentic. I emailed him seeing if he wanted to buy them for $5 each. He replied yes and I’ll cover shipping . So the tires may be going from Maryland to ENGLAND !!!! I thought he might be in this country . haven’t found out what shipping costs would be. But it is ironic since these tires were made by Michelin in England so they would be going home. after 30 years.
Thanks Art
