• Happy Halloween From the OTSG

    Happy Halloween!
I just finished this bike moments ago and thought it might make a nice Halloween greeting.
    Cheers, Hugh

    Thanks Hugh

A little bit about it: I bought this old ten speed from a bike shop in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, at a very low price. I bought a seat, because the original one was all open on the right side. I also bought a pannier rack to carry my books and my back pack when I go to school. Then, I bought a new Bar Tape. I had to change the bolt and the nut that squeezes the frame on the seat pole because the old one was rusted and I stripped it. Finally I had to buy two cotter pins to lock and hold the pedals. (I broke both original cotter pins) I got this bike 2 weeks ago, so I don’t really know the bike’s history. Now I just hope that the frame is tough enough because I’m on my bike 20-40 km every day. I believe that an old bike is a good didactic tool for people who want to learn some mechanic bases.

PS: My English is not the best because it’s my second language. (I’m speaking French mainly). Thank you.

    Thanks François

I picked up this little gem on craigslist for $50. The bike was pretty dusty and had some oxidation on the parts, but was in 100% original condition. I completely disassembled the bike (even the drive side BB cup, thank god it wasn’t stuck) down to the frame. A complete cleaning, regreasing, and adjustment of all bearings was performed. All parts were disassembled and polished with steel wool, mother’s aluminum polish, and 3M hand glaze on the chrome and paint. New tires, cables, and bar wrap were installed. All in all, i think it cleaned up pretty well. I especially love the chrome on the fork crown and legs. It’s too bad they didn’t chrome the fancy head lugs and stays, it could have been a poor man’s Paramount. Hope you all enjoy it.

Neighbor was putting these out to the curb. The ladies bike was renovated for a young friend who loves it. Added riser bars to the ladies, new chain, freewheel, cables and brake pads. I was able to add brake adjusters as you can see in the drivetrain photo. Cleaning up the kickstand took a long time, covered with rust. The decal from the bike store has the phone number FL8-0948. She had no idea what this was.
