Allen M’s 1960’s Touring Bottecchia

Here is an entry from Allen M in Milano. This is his nicely rehabbed Bottecchia. I’m curious on the vintage, as that doesn’t look like a 1960s Campy rear derailer.

Hi, I’m Allen from Milano, Italy. I’d like to submit my late 1960’s Bottecchia touring bike, which I salvaged from a seaside resort. Given the aggressive seaside atmosphere, it was covered in some kind of clear resin which became brown with age, so I stripped, re-painted and salvaged as many components as possible, including the lovely vintage Campagnolo derailleurs. Other parts, including the saddle, chain, front fork, brakes and levers were replaced, hence the “Franken” moniker I chose to customize the bike.

    Nicely done, Allen.
    I just love the way that you coordinated the colors; bar wrap, cable housing, chain.
    My tush would be at home on that lovely bike.
    I agree with Cameron on this one, rear derailleur seems to be newer and more modernized than a 60’s make.
    Must be an Italian thing to strip before rebuilding/restoring a bike…

    I got to thinking, oh-oh…Where have I seen a similar frame and color on a bike, then it hit me!?!
    “F” for Fuji?
    The lug work is very close, especially when looking at a close up on the seat tube lug beneath the post.(I’m sure was pretty much standard for an era)
    My Fuji is a 1986 with an integral hanger, much like yours.
    60’s…80’s, irregardless–Nice bike, nice job.
