Staying with the International theme, today’s entry is an OTSG First 1984 Claud Butler Dalesman sent in by Andy E. in Reading UK. That’s a BIG frame!

This is a 1984 Claud Butler Dalesman with a large 25.5in frame made from Reynolds 531 ST.  It’s been updated with a mix of vintage and new parts.  The rear derailleur is once again a Suntour Cyclone MkII and Suntour Cyclone pedals have been fitted as well.  The saddle is now a Brooks Team Pro and there are new 700c wheels made with Suntour Superbe Pro hubs, Mavic Open Pro rims and DT Swiss spokes rather than the original 27in wheels.  The brakes have also been changed to Tektro using aero brake levers.

    Super bike! And I love that slack geometry, too.

    Claud Butlers are somewhat exotic to us stateside, so I was really blown away to see so many of them (Dawes, too) when I was in Scotland last month. Thanks for sharing!

    Nice CB, Andy! That’s great color, and the wide-range gearing must provide great versatility.
    I briefly checked out your site, and at your height, a touring geometry at this size should make you feel like you’re stretching out on your favorite lounger. I can’t imagine taller folks having any comfort on anything smaller. Personally, I’ve got somewhat longish legs at about six foot overall, but 25″ bikes seem to make me feel like I can finally relax and BREATHE (and proportionally longer stem and crankarms probably helps that, too)!
