Art F in Rockville, MD, leads out the second Japanese Week(s). This is his Bridgestone 300, cost: FREE?!
Sometimes you just have good karma. I responded to a posting on Freecycle http://freecycle.org/ for 2 old bikes being given away . One was a Bridgestone and the other was a Schwinn women’s ten speed . I didn’t hear anything for a week and figured they had been snapped up in 10 minutes. But I received an email a week later saying come pick them up. Seems like the owner had them sitting around for about 15 years without riding them and since they had kids switched over to mountain bikes so they could go riding with the kids. Both bikes were in great shape with nothing more needed than tires , cables, brake pads and handlebar tape.
The Bridgestone 300 was a 10 speed road bike made in Japan in the 80s . Seat tube length is 21″ 53 cm center to center . . The frame was just about flawless ,no rust , shiny , decails in perfect condition . . Tuned it up to sell with cable and chain lubrication , shift and brake adjustments , tweaking of spokes , tightening of crank bolts and tightening of brake lever attachment .
More Details:
Frame Double Butted butted chrome moly
Brakes Dia Compe Sidepulls
Alloy wheels with front and rear quick release
Sakae alloy double crankset
Deraileurs Suntour AX 3000 with down tube mounted index shiftersI sold the bike on craigslist in about a week for around $180 . The investmwent in parts was about $30 . Be nice if I could do this more often . Most of the time I’m selling a beat up Huffy for $80 that I picked up for $20 and needed to strip down another bike for transplants to restore.
