Welcome Bert from Rotterdam and his rare for Holland Bridgestone 10-Speed. Please feel free to lend any info you might have in regards to his interesting story about the Bridgestone brand in Holland—or Europe in general.
Dear Oldtenspeed, First of all, my compliments to your website. I really like the diversity of your bikes and can easily spend an hour or more looking at all the beautiful bikes. My name is Bert and I live in Rotterdam Holland. Me and a few friends recently started cycling on old ten speed bikes. Its a lot of fun and I’m starting to get hooked. I got this bike of an older man who had worked for Bridgestone Holland as a salesman. His story about the bike was that one day Bridgestone started importing cycles to Holland. His manager suggested he’d buy one to show of to the public. He got the bike at a good price and rode on it for many years, and so did the his boss. As he told me those two cycles were just about the only two ever sold in Holland. It became apparent that the Bridgestone brand (for cycles) was never a big selling success in Holland. I couldn’t find any brochures or other pictures of this particular cycle with the gold decal, and stumbled on you website. Who can tell me some more about this cycle which I’ve become to love?
