Since I failed to post anything all week, I’m making up for it by posting five straight Schwinns this weekend. Hope you enjoy.
This 1977 Schwinn Sierra is sent to us by Bob H in Madison, Wisconsin.

Remember my purple Schwinn Varsity? Well this pink Sierra is every bit as eye-popping! My wife spotted ‘Big Pink’ at a local resale shop. At first glance I though the frame was too big even for my 6’3″ height, but it’s perfect. Riding this 30 year-old Chicago Schwinn has been a revelation. The riding position is very comfortable, the bike is smooth shifting an responsive. It was obviously well cared for by it’s previous owner. Apparently the Sierra was the same as the Continental, which was a step above the Varsity in Schwinn’s electro-forged line. The name was used in 1977, after which came the Continental II, with Sierra being used later for an early Schwinn MTB. Changes to this machine will be minimal: I’ve already bought some pink bar tape, I’ll remove the suicide brake levers, the big ugly front and rear reflectors, add clips and straps and maybe replace the saddle. Chrome finders might be nice, too don’t you think? Lastly, check out a video of the bike here.
