After last Friday’s debate riddled entry we’re all in need of a Monday morning reprieve. I can think of nothing more therapeutic than a visit to a tranquil (neighborhood?) marsh (swamp?) astride a fender-clad and totally rad—Raleigh Grand Prix.
Hi Cameron,
I found this bike at a thrift store in Chicago and talked the price down from $75.00 to $25.00. It was in bad need of some tlc so I completely dismantled it and repacked all of the bearings. All of the aluminum components were deconstructed, polished, lubed and reassembled. Some of the cheaper parts such as the seatpost and crank were replaced with slightly better ones from the same era. I re-laced the wheels with 14 gauge stainless steel spokes and the original steel rims were replaced with aluminum dual wall rims. Fenders, pump and patch-kit were added to complete my inner city commuter.
