Bricknd is back.  Here is his Montgomery Ward Open Road 3200 Ltd.

Front Derailleur: Shimano
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Tourney
Rims: 27 x 1 ¼ 1 1/8 Araya with quick release axles (not stock, but from my garbage picked Schwinn Le Tour (previously submitted))
Tires: Bell 27 x 1 ¼ (not stock)
Generator light: Still working

I purchased this OTS new in 1989 from a Montgomery Ward in Richardson Texas for $79.00. I was on a limited budget. When I bought it, what I liked was the Shimano parts. What I disliked, were the side pull brakes. The bike road fine for a few years, then hung from my rafters for years. When my kids were growing up, one of them took it down from the rafters and dropped it on the flat tires…It hung for about more years until when I put the Schwinn Le Tour rims and new tires on. The bike rides great now. My son uses it when we go on the RailTrails.

Personal Note: I fell off of the 2nd story roof of our house in January this year while taking down Christmas lights. I broke 5 vertebrae, a rib, collapsed lung, blew out both shoulders and separated my pelvis. I am thankful that I can still enjoy daily cycle rides on my OTSs throughout the scenic Northwest Ohio area, not taking simple things for granted.

    That’s in nice shape. I think most Ward bikes are pretty sturdy.

    Glad you can still ride after your fall! Christmas decorations don’t seem worth the risk…

    Please pardon my failure to note your Holiday mishap. I read it when I was preparing your post, but then when it came time to write an intro and post your bike I completely forgot mention it, and offer my own well wishes. So with out further ado, I’m thankful to hear you’ve recovered well, and hope you continue to do so and keep enjoying your OTS!
