Hi! Been a fan of the site for a few years now, and wanted to submit my OTS. It is a 1976 VeloSoleX “L’etoile,” their top-of-the-line model. French-gauge Reynolds 531 frame and fork, and chrome socks. It’s been through a couple iterations, but this is what I ended up with. I think the fenders really sell it, they’re the Bluemels “Airweights,” no longer made, unfortunately. The drivetrain is all-French, with Stronglight TS cranks, Huret Challenger derailleurs, a Sachs freewheel and a Sedisport chain. Front hub is a Shimano dynamohub driving a Basta halogen headlight. Handlebars are GB Randonneur, shifters are Suntour barcon, rack is from Velo-Orange. Tailight is a Miller, and because I did a 650B conversion on the wheelset, I mounted a set of MAFAC “Raid” long-reach centerpulls. Seatpost is a JPR in 26.8 size, saddle is a Turbo Gel (now replaced with a Fujita Belt). I’ve loaned it to my sister because the bike is just too small and whippy for me. I’m 6′ 3-1/2″ and 265 pounds, and I can put a lot of torque down when I’m in a hurry. But it’s just right for her for running errands and evening rambles. I just hope she rides it!
Very Kind Regards
Captain Blight.
