That last Peug was so good I figured we may as well round out the week with another.
This time it’s Chris L’s 1982 Peugeot PKN-10.
Chris, please get a pry-bar and dislodge that poor seatpost just a skosh for me would ya?
This is my 1982, metallic blue, 23″ Peugeot PKN-10 “Competition” 12-speed bicycle. When I was a senior in high school I worked in a bike shop over the summer and I bought a lightly used 1974 ‘Super Competition’ PX-10. I rode it for two years and then sold it for more than I paid for it. Ever since then I have wanted to find a Peugeot to replace it. I bought this bike on E-bay in 2005 and it was well maintained in very good shape. When I bought it I had it “tuned-up” at a local shop, taken apart all cleaned, re-greased, new cables, new brake pads, two new tires, rims re-trued. It is very fast and a blast to ride. It looks like everything is original to the bike based on the research I’ve done;
Reynolds 531 double but frame (“3 Tubes Renforce”)
Weinman ‘605’ side pull brakes
Simplex front and rear derailleurs
Stronglight cranks
Mavic 700C rims
Maillard quick release lugs
Rat-trap peddles
original bottle cage but no Peugeot bottle…
Concor San-Marco Super course leather saddle
I considered myself lucky to find this one in such good shape, love the web site !
