This is Dan B’s Carabela Mixte, an OTSG First. As Dan mentions, this marque was apparently built in Mexico by Acer-Mex. There is also a bit of discussion over at Bike Forums about this marque.
Hi Cameron: I came upon this Carabela mixte by chance at tag sale that was not advertised on CL or in my local paper. After hitting the advertised sales one Saturday morning, I happened to drive passed a house with a tag sale sign out front. I glanced down the driveway and saw the bike. I stopped and spoke with the owner. She accepted my $20 offer, but I had only a $10 in my pocket so I needed to make a run to the ATM. The owner agreed to hold the bike for me. When I returned, the owner told me that she had two people interested in the bike while I was gone who offered to pay more than my offer. I thanked her for holding the bike for me and returned home. The bike bears a “Made in Mexico” logo and features Suntour shifters and a Gran Compe stem. The lugs are nicely detailed, I think.
Dan B.
Thanks Dan
