Here’s my second submission to the gallery, a Peugeot UO-14 from 1983. I had a lot of fun with this bike, using it as a chance to experiment with a variety of cleaning methods and materials, and I think the results are pretty good! I kept the bike as original as possible, even the (new) tires are the same model as were spec’d on the bike thirty years ago, the only components replaced were the cranks (original Stronglight non-driveside crank was totally stuck to the axle) with an equally French Nervar set retapped for English-thread pedals and a Shimano 600 for the original Huret rear derailer which didn’t shift quite as well as I’d like. Did I spend too much time cleaning this somewhat-crappy bike up? Yes, but hey it’s pretty and it rolls nice, that’s all that counts.
