• Dennis’ 1974 Sears Free Spirit

Our old friend DFI (Dennis from Indiana) is back with another fine 10-speed example.  This time it is a 1974 Sears Ted Williams? Free Spirit.   He was even nice enough to apply one of those fine stickers I’ve offering.

On the topic of stickers: I will be suspending free stickers once I run out of my current stash.  The good news is you can always purchase the same stickers here.  I’m not leaving the freebie’s altogether, I will begin offering an OTSG T-Shirt to the monthly winners of the OTSOTM as soon as I finish the new design.  If I can get a good deal on some more stickers too, I will probably start the give-away back up after the first of the year.

Dennis, sorry for turning your post into a PSA.

This bike had 30 plus years in the attic with one wheel and a dry rot Sears tire. My best guess is a 74 Free Spirit with Shimano Eagle rear derailleur and a Thunderbird GTO front derailleur. The serial number on the

front left side head tube-50217425 854158.

    Thanks again Dennis

If you go to flickr.com and type in flapdoodle64, you can see my photos of a stock Ted Williams bike, along with other bike and strange photos.

That is a sweet Ted Williams bike, and nice looking Schwinn bikes also! The only other Ted Williams bike that I have found that looked that nice was for sale in the Midwest for 100 dollars plus shipping.
