What an eye to spot a diamond in the rough. Before pic–bike looked like toast,
    after pics–bike is immaculate.
Is it just me, but those older drop bars had some funky angles and curves to ’em?
    Nice job!
Dude, is it just me and my eyes deceiving me..but do I see chrome skull valve caps on that black beauty?

Question: Will bar end shifters accommodate 2X5 gearing. Can they be used with various gearing combos, e.g. 2X5,6,7 or 3X5,6,7?
When rebuilding this Bridgestone, this was the way that I had envisioned to do it, with bar ends–but I settled for this setup temporarily.
And finally, where might I find/purchase said shifters??

yes you can.I prefer the suntour friction shifter on this era of bicycles. you can find these shifters in a number of places ebay, amazon these were ones i had in stock 1 of three set im in the process of building another touring bike for a client in texas using a more modern set ultegra 10 speed. The front shifters are usually friction with a choice of friction or indexing for the rear

Brings back memories… We sold Univega at my Hub of Aspen in early 80’s. They were also about the first to make production mountain bikes.
