Leading out our weekend bunch sprint is Doohickie’s 1978ish Fuji Sports 10. Poor bike never saw it coming.
One Friday, a fellow hanger-outer at the bike shop mentioned he’s been restoring a vintage Peugeot, but discovered that the frame really doesn’t fit him; it’s a little too big. Knowing I seem to come up with bikes from time to time, he said that if I ever saw a small-sized vintage lug frame, I should grab it for him.
Totally unrelated, at a club breakfast ride the following morning, one of the riders asked me out of the blue if I was interested in an old Fuji he bought for his wife years ago; she never really rode it he said. He said I might not be too interested since it was a small frame, but if I wanted it, I could have it. So I drove over that afternoon and picked it up. I offered it to the guy from the bike shop and he took it. I sold it for $20 and bought the original donor breakfast on our next breakfast ride.
It’s a 1978 (possibly ’77) Fuji Sports 10. All original except it was hybridized with mountain bike bars and knobby tires. Still with the original cottered cranks.
