After a weekend of getting my a$$ handed to me by a bunch of guys with peach fuzz mustaches at the USGP Derby City Cup, I’ve never been so glad to see things more old and worn out than myself! Today’s entry, while older, does not look more worn out, but it will just have to do.
This is Doug B’s Mercier Fast Touring.
Purchased in France, brought to New England, ridden very little, and stored for years indoors. There is no model name on it, and my research did not turn up anything. The bike had 189 miles on an odometer that was attached to the front wheel. Recently rebuilt (completely disassembled, including spokes out of rims and hubs, freewheel, bb, headset, pedals, hubs, etc. and reassembled with new grease and bearings) and sold. AVA rims w/Conti Tubular Tires. The seat and handlebar wrap are the only non-original parts. The ride was excellent, but the shifting was a bit dodgy owing to the plastic Simplex derailleurs. Excellent Mafac brakes. Original pump and trick front rack. There was an old Plescher rack on the back, but I did not like the look of it.
Thanks for looking, and I hope this is the kind of thing you like for your site.
Doug B.
