Happy #FrancophileFriday to you all. Now go ride your bike!
A good friend called me to ask if I would be interested in picking up an old bicycle for free. Expecting the worst for that price, I reasoned that I could at least get some parts and throw the rest away. I could barely contain my excitement when I noticed that the old bike was a Mixte, and better yet, a French, vintage Motobecane.
Sure, the bike was rough. Backyard weeds had tangled everywhere including spider eggs in the worst places. After long hours of meditative cleaning and detailing, the bike was back looking pretty good.
Except for the tires and brake pads, the bike is totally original including the saddle and wrapping tape. I have been riding it lately and I just love it! It has become one of my favorite bicycles and I feel very proud to ride it around town.
I thought many times about submitting this bike to the Old Ten Speed Gallery. After searching the site and not being able to find another one, I decided to finally submit it for approval and for your comments. Please let me know what you think could realistically be done in order to make it a worthy representative of the style. Thanks for watching.
