• Harv Is Back – Harv’s Omega Mixte 10-speed

Harv, our first contributer, is back to show that old-ten-speed-bliss is also available in Dusty Rose. After seeing a couple of his bikes, I can tell Harv a) loves flat bars on road bikes and b) uses any combination of components he has at his disposal. I like it.

    Harv's Omega Mixte 10-speed

This is my Omega Mixte. Frame is Chromoly 4130 Lugged Steel. Found abandoned with missing parts and some damage. Front wheel is 27 inch steel Schwinn item, probably from a 60s or 70s ten-speed. Note the “Ross” leather saddle which was given to me circa 1970. Probably just like the original saddle on Deborah’s bike.

I picked up a mixte exactly like this! I’m curious if the paint is that rose color because of fading since our shades seem to match. I found her essentially complete, but it’s requiring a lot of work. Any knowledge on its history or who made it? I can’t find any information on Omega online. The headbadge is just a sticker but the components, lugs, etc are pretty decent. Confusing little thing, but I’m having a lot of fun with her. Once my camera works I’ll take some decent pictures.
