This is James S’s 1985 Trek 520, all decked out for a day-trip.
Trek referred to this as a Sport Touring bike. It has a Reynolds 501 frame, Shimano N600 group with triple cranks, 700C Rigida rims, leather San Marco saddle, Blackburn rear rack and water bottle cages, and a Zefal HP pump. It wasn’t a “full-blown” touring bike like the later 520s, but many riders have supposedly used it for fully loaded touring. This one makes you think it is still 1985, and it’s just ready for it’s 30-day free tune-up. The cleanest looking bike I own, and all original! It’s right out of a time capsule! If it wasn’t such a great riding bike I would use it as wall art!
