Julie, did you repaint this or just buff the rust off?

That is the perfect backdrop for photographing that bike. Nice job!

scrubbed the ‘patina’ off with steel wool-couldnt save the orig paint/so it got a coat of what I had on hand-and a coat of clear. Changed out bars-stem-and seatpost since/to fit my son in law. Need to submit its finale build with the orig wheels-been busy with others. Thanks for the kind words.

WoW! I’ve been scouring the internet for information on the Mercier but I did not expect to find one EXACTLY like the one sitting in my garage (as it has been for the last 26 years). I would love to know if you find a source for the original wheels. Great job! Awesome bike….

It came with the original high flange arayas-they needed a lot of cleaning up-and I was anxious to try out the ride. The finale version is submitted/but you’ll have to wait for it 🙂 The back drop is on a building that is on the way to my grandson’s school….happenstance. The rd is intact, but has nubs for teeth on the jockey wheels. Haven’t found a busted suntour for the wheels-only other option is another simplex. She was on the brink of oblivion and I’m proud to have saved her. Thank you-thankyaverymuch
