• Liz W’s 1979 Schwinn Le Tour Mixte

Check out Liz W’s ’79 Schwinn Le Tour, in all its frosty silvery glory basking in the glow of sunset.  Nice way to finish the week and freewheel us right into the holiday weekend.  See you all Monday.

I bought this 1979 frosty silver Schwinn LeTour mixte November 09. The bike is near mint – had been hanging in a garage for years. I was the first to contact the buyer and drove from to Altanta to get it. It’s all original. The axels and bottom bracket was lubed, the chain and rear derraileur cleaned. The tires were good. Push this bike by the seat and it rolls straight as an arrow. It was no bargain bike but my local bike shop said the price was good.

I picked up an identical La-Tour Mixte recently. I haven`t done anything with it yet. It is nowhere near
as clean as yours. I`ll be happy if I can get it close to that pristine. Nice find!

NO WAY could a bike from 32 years ago look this perfect!! Whaaatt??? So listen up: The people from the Future went back into the Past, strapped this artifact to their DeLorean, and deposited it in the Present. This bike is iron clad proof that time travel exists!!!

      HELLO,

DO YOU KNOW WHERE I COULD FIND A PAIR OF
BLACK BICYCLE WHEEL 27 X 1 1/4 THAT WOULD GO ON A 1983 SCHWINN ITS A WORLD SPORT 12 SPEED

      RESPECTFULLY,

      R. WENDELL LANE JR.

I just picked up an identical bike at the thrift store, although mine is an ’83, and is a bit more banged up. I hope to get it as clean as yours. I’m need to adjust the side-to-side positioning of the brake levers, but can’t access the clamp screw. Any advice?
