Year 1981 Make Raleigh Model Super Course

Bought it NIB from a dealer who’d bought out a storage unit of a long-vanished distributor. These are likely the last of the Nottingham built models although final assembly/paint appears to have been done in Japan. Repacked all the bearings and replaced tires/tubes, cables, brake pads (kool stop continentals). Swapped in a tall Nitto Technomic Deluxe stem, Nitto Grand Raundoneur bars, a Brooks Professional saddle and matching leather bar tape. I’m still looking to improve the braking (I ride mostly in LA traffic) and am considering the Dia Compe 610 centerpulls re-released by Velo Orange. It’s a great, comfortable ride although slightly flexy in the BB. When I get the brakes where I want them I’ll be riding this one a lot more. Thanks for reading, Mark.

    That is one fine looking bike. What size is that? I`m guessing 64-65cm.

      You got that right, Hugh! Mark has a nice bike!
      I’d even say it’s in the 68/69cm range, and Mark could easily be 6-1/2′ tall +!
      When you get a big, healthy guy climbing the hills on a tall bike, I wouldn’t be surprised when the frame flexes! Good thing he’s got strong, 36-spoke wheels on it!
