I really enjoy the OTSG, and hope I can submit this and violate the “10-speed” category! Here’s one for the Schweads:
Sorry about the file sizes as I’m a dinosaur and not a digital-photo computer-geek.
I’m the former owner of this super-nice 25” 1988 Schwinn World Sport 12-speed time-warp.
I didn’t really need it, but I bought this at a community bike swap (around 1990) anyway just because it: was nearly-new, looked so good, was my size, and dirt cheap at less than half price ($85, if I remember). At the time, I had also owned a red 1983 Miyata One Hundred for a few years (submission to follow, soon) that I bought new in 1984, to which I had added fenders, Blackburn rack, and randonneur bars (now back to nearly-original), so I wanted another less accessorized sport-tourer.
I owned it for about 7 or 8 years with light use, I made the now-regretted decision to sell it to a new friend (after a 500+-mile move in 1993). The new owner is completely aware of my interest to reclaim it, but they’re as happy to own it as I would be, so I have resigned myself to be first on the list when it should ever become available.
Fast forward to 2010, and the older new friend wanted a likewise older me to do a cleaning and a light re-furbish on it, so I was happy to see it hadn’t been molested too badly (the rubber grip of the front derailleur lever disappeared, and the original handlebar tape was chewed up and loose, but that’s about it).
The current owner added the seat pad on the original seat, and new padded handlebar tape was my current addition.
Mike
