Mike V’s 1987 Trek Elance 400

From first-time submitter, Mike V, a  Clist rescued 1987 Trek Elance 400.  25 years has done nothing to diminish this classic.

hello, i picked this bike up on craigslist a couple of weeks ago for a great price. it was a little rough but i could see potential. i cleaned up the entire bike, regreasing the headset and bottom bracket (hubs are nice and smooth), and polishing all of the components and frame with paint rubbing compound. the cables, housing, tires, and a broken spoke on the rear wheel were replaced . from my parts bin i changed the stem, bars, brake levers, crankset, seatpost, and of course added a seat. i hope you all enjoy it, i think it came out pretty nice. if the snow would only melt…

    thanks doc, i can’t bear to see a classic bike neglected like this was, it’s definitely worth the effort to me.
