Neil H’s 1983 Schwinn Traveler

Posted September 16, 2010

Neil H sent in this Traveler he acquired for $0 off clist.  I guess I can look past (but not over) a 450mm seatpost when you get the bike for free.

Crank
New cushy cork wrap.
Grubby cotton wrap.

1983 Schwinn Traveler

Here is my Schwinn Traveler that I got for free off of craigslist. I am not certain about the year. I believe it to be a 1983 because of the bicycle shop sticker on the frame. Everything is original except the seatpost, chain and griptape. The frame was a bit small for me so I replaced the original seatpost and the chain broke so they were replaced. Finally, I removed some of the rust from the handlebars and plan to put the centerpull brakes back on, I just have them off for convenience of wrapping the bars. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the original high pressure schwinn tires were still in working order. She’s a work in progress and is ridden often and I still love her despite the rust!

Thanks Neil

Thanks Neil
