Patrick picked up oneheckofa deal when he scored this 1978 Schwinn Continental II for $15! Is it me, or are OTS prices always at the extremes? It seems people are either giving them away or under the impression that they’re priceless and irreplaceable. I suppose that is one of the draws to OTS in general—finding a deal. I can think of little sweeter than scoring a Continental for $15 when you know it’s near impossible to find one for less than $75.
I bought this ’78 Schwinn Continental for $15 at a Georgia Flee Market last weekend. It had very rotten tires (probably original lol), no handle bar tape, but was otherwise complete. Most of the parts are “Schwinn Approved”. The bars are aluminum and “Made in Britain” but I forget what brand. I’ve since put on a new set of tubes and tires as well as the wrap (obviously:). I also did some touch up on some of the worse rust spots and took off the badly rusted sprocket cover. I will try to match the paint better later and also touch up all the nicks and scratches. I like having the original decals and I will try to preserve them (or what’s left of them) if I can.. The bike needs a little tuning and some more TLC but it actually shifts and rides pretty well considering how neglected it was. I’m really enjoying my OTS!
Thanks Patrick
