Wow, amber/red SMRs, early alloy 600 components, skiptooth freewheel spockets; what a time machine you’ve found, Phillip!
We could overlook the front q.r. skewer on the wrong side, but if I didn’t point it out, someone else would!

Phillip, I owned the other Volkscycle that is posted on here on OTSG. From what I understand, Volkscycle bikes were made in Japan by Bridgestone.

My Mark XV was a nice riding bike that seems like it was equipped similar to yours. Unfortunately, as it was too small for me, mine has moved on to a new owner.

Very nice. That looks like a pretty nice backyard, too. I did a quick web scan for Volkscycle and failed to find answers for the first two questions that popped into my head: Any connection to Volkswagen?
    Any Petersen influence?

Any koi in that pond? Anybody?

    • Bill

No connection to Volkswagen. I doubt there was any influence of GP.

  • Bill

I don’t believe that there was any Grant Petersen influence on Volkscycle. Bridgestone was likely just the company contracted to build the frames for the importers.

There is no connection between Volkswagen and Volkscycle.

Thanks for all the comments guys. No koi in the “pond” it is actually a swimming pool. Or is during the summer anyway. Turns into a swamp on the off season. For anyone in the bay area the bike is actually for sale if you are interested.

I have a Mk3 and really like it, had a lot of various styles, road, mtn etc., this one is the easiest to pedal for me at 73 yrs. old. Better than my Fujis! Like the lightness and simplicity, all Shimano, even axles. Style is very much like old Fujis, I’d swear they were made in the same shop. Cuts and fits very similar. Straight beautiful handle bar, all like new in light blue. Original Mark whitewalls. Dave in Michigan

    Hey Guys,
I just picked up a Volkscycle. I have not had two seconds to look at it! I think mine has Raleigh components! It is the “bike vault’, and I Valuescannot get to it right now! Oh. By the way the “bike vault” is our travel trailer! Mama is not a happy camper!!!
    g’night,
    Bill

I have one just like it, picked it up in garage sale for $15. I have been riding it prety regularly. What is it worth?
