• Ric C.’s 1980 Univega Gran Rally

More from Univega, this is a 1980 Univega Gran Rally sent in by Ric C. in Southern California. A sub-24 pound steal road bike for less than $100—and people still go to Wal-Mart to buy bicycles?

    1980 Univega Gran Rally

NOS Arius saddleSR Custom bar, stem and Shimano 600 levers.

Purchased on Ebay $99. It’s not perfect, but pretty nice. I total tore it apart and rebuilt with new grease and some new parts. New cloth/shelac tape, shimano brake hoods, NOS Arius saddle, Panaracer tires, and brake pads, cables/housings, MKS Touring pedals with Minoura Alloy Clips.

Full Tange Champion Steel, Full Shimano 600 Arabesque group. 23.9 LBS

    Thanks Ric

That is a spectacular bike for the price! Like the saddle.

Absolutely gorgeous, classy bike. It has a lot of the details that I love: drilled non-aero brake levers with gum hoods and white cable housing, fluted seatpost, elegant paint. This is a definite front-runner for OTSOTM for me!

Does anyone know where I can get the gum hoods for the drilled 600 Arabesque brake levers?
