    Ryan S.,
    Perfect-O!
Love everything about it, colors–just enough not too much, fancy lug work, chrome-tipped forks, and the old school spoke reflectors.
Another nice old bike resurrected, good job!

Ye Gods man! Tell us you didn’t toss that original saddle!

    Other than that, beautiful job.

  • Ryan Surface

BRQ Thanks man I am pleased with how it came out.

Bob – toss a leather Saddle! Never. I did however have to give it 5 applications of proof-hide before it went from looking trashed to merely worn out. Its so worn I can’t make out the maker though I assume its either Ideale or AGDA- see picture. After treating the leather I did test ride it a few times but its not nearly as comfortable as my two brooks saddles so its going to go on another UO-8 project that is in the queue.

IT’S ALIVE! IT’S ALIVE! & THE DOCTOR LIKES IT
GREAT COLOR CHOICE IT’S THE PERFECT ACCENT AGAINST THE WHITE FRAME. GREAT JOB

    • Ryan Surface

Thanks Doc, I can’t take full credit as I saw a white UO-8 in the University district here in Seattle about a year ago with some red cabling that gave me this idea. I think the Red livens up what can otherwise be a “vanilla” frame set.

i like to see a little life put back in to old rides attached is a pick of a motobecane i did for a client some months ago with you guessed it
        red cabling

        • BeaterRezQ

          Doc,
Amazing, how old is that bike?
The paint/decals look brand new–overall the bike looks unused….
I would rather straddle that or Ryans Peugeot than a mass-produced Chinese made bike–365 days a year.

**also, here’s one that I recently upgraded: drivetrain, bars, saddle…an old fully lugged KHS Montana Crest MTB (talk about an overdose of colors)
          Happy Trails,
          BRQ

          • Ryan Surface

BRQ that is an..umm…eclectic.. mix of colors you got going on there. Nicely done very one of a kind.

Beater, I always like your bikes. They look like fun. That one seems to be missing a portuer rack and a Portland address. I was writing something a year ago how all these old rigid MTB frames need only a handlebar and seat (and tire) change to become VERY viable commuter/bike path bicycles. The bikes you bring us are perfect examples of what I am talking about. For most cities and all of Fla. if it has a horizontal drop it goes single. I hope I don’t get in trouble for saying that.

            TPC,
            Say on say on…
An old quality MTB can be found in mint condition with quality components for next to nothing. The KHS pictured cost me a whole twenty dollars with a beautiful fully lugged cr-mo frame, and a mello-yellow paint job to boot!
Cafe cruiser, Urban assault vehicle, you name it….whatever your twisted little mind can create, limitless potential.

Wow a Grand Jubilee -that is a beautiful work Doc, love the way the cables pull out the red in the Top Tube decal. I have hopes of finding a Grand Touring or Jubilee in my size, I built up and sold a Nomade II that fit me like a glove and would like to find one of its upscale cousins one day.

ORIGINALLY THE NAME PLATE WAS GOLD. BUT FROM TIME IT WAS BURNISHED OFF
SO I USED SOME RED ENAMEL PAINT & FREE HANDED THE LOGO THEN CLEAR COATED OVER THAT. THE FRAME HAD A FEW BLEMISHES THAT I TUCHED UP TO MAKE HER LOOK SWEET, THE OWNER HOWARD H SAID IT GETS A LOT OF ATTENTION WHEN HE RIDES

  • Trailer Park Cyclist

Awesome work, Roadie! Those decals look new. In fact, everywhere I look on that bike is impressive. Those forks are sweet.

Just came in from thirty-five miles, slamming a couple beers, heading back out. Clear skies, seventy seven degrees, gentle south wind. Yeah, baby!

    • Ryan Surface

Thanks TPC, it was in nice shape just needed TLC. I see your 75 degrees and counter with 38 and a rain and snow mixed!
