Scott E’s 1975 Fuji Special Tourer

I’m still floored by what you can still find a secondhand store these days.  Here’s what Scott E found, a 1975 Fuji Special Tourer.  Just look what a proper wheelset and new saddle will do for an OTS.

Note: OTSG bonus points for including the original pie plate on the new wheelset!

Dear OTSG:

This is a 1975 Fuji “Special Tourer” that I found about a month ago at my local Salvation Army Thrift Store for $29.99. I’ve included a photo of how it looked when I bought it (save for the new wheels). I refreshed the bottom bracket and headset myself, and then had the local bike shop wrap the handlebars and run new cables, housings, and chain. Once I had it home, I added the Brooks saddle, stainless steel fenders, handlebar bag, and rear rack. I’ve since added a bell and trunk bag. The bike serves as my daily commuter. The ride is indescribably plush.
Ride well.

Sincerely,
Scott

  1. Sweet ride, you did a great job with it. I recently acquired 1976 Fuji Sports 10 and still need to overhaul the wheels and put on new tires. Seeing those nice chrome fenders makes me want to consider adding them to my Fuji project.

Very well done. It looks pristine. And people wonder why
we have such a tough time driving past a Thrift-Store.
You did an excellent job. That Fuji looks like it is ready for some serious touring. And it all comes together wonderfully.

  3. Ditto, Beautiful job. Nice fenders which add to the appeal. Stainless is very nice. You are lucky the Thrift did not part it out on Ebay. Nice find and the color is attractive as well and not about to be repeated anytime soon/ a vintage attractive color. Thanks Eduard with a yellow and red bike nothing this cool and retro.
