I am curious as to whether the black stem was stock or if it was painted, you don’t many black quill stems on road bikes…

the bike came that way with the black stem. S.

    Scott V.,
    Nice bike!
Good set of components, nice lugged steel frame…but what I like most about it–is the clean white paint job almost free of useless decals. A big plus in my humble opinion, and an OTSG first to boot!

I removed the “Tunturi” on the downtube and the “500R” from the top bar with a heat gun. I prefer a cleaner look too. Too many decals scream “steal me!”

A man after my own heart!
I have never understood why you would put a beautiful paint job on a bike and then cover it up with decals.
Keep your decals and just give us a real head badge so that we can rest in peace!(well, maybe a couple little ones…)

I flip bikes and remove most decals, if not all. Quality does not have to shout. All the local college kids have their expensive bikes stolen and are looking for stealthy, discreet & reliable bikes. I may be old school, but steel is real. An old “department store” 10 speed (that gets some love) is better than most of the new stuff I see. S.

Couldn’t roll the hoods back for the picture? That’s like doing a victory salute with your jersey unzipped!

I know, I grabbed the wrong photos for the posting, here is the better photo

I have this very bike! I scored it free at the local bike project. I gave it an extensive tune up and have gone on to ride it heavily. Next month, I am doing a 160 mile one day tour with it. Then the ride home the next day. A great ride all around.
