While we’re on the topic of Univega, I thought I’d post this comfort conversion sent in by Scott V.

Dear Cameron:
Here is my 1980’s Vintage Univega Safari 10, Purchased for $50. Maroon with Suntour components. It needed a thorough cleaning, lube, new cables & brake shoes. Before & after photos.

North Road Bars
Silicone Grips
Avid FR-5 Brake Levers
Zepfas saddle
Alloy seat post
Wellgo Quill pedals & nylon toe clips

A comfortable, pleasure ride.

    Comfort conversion; couldn’t have described it any better than that.
    Nice job making it enticing for say the older rider that no longer enjoys the “bent-over” position or a rider that suffers from back ailments.
    I just love the burgundy/cranberry/maroon color for a bike..it just glows with a good clean and wax.

    sweet re working perfect for a trip on picnicking or a casual cruze around town or to the store. i love the fact people update or rebuild the old classics & vintage steel bikes 2 thumbs up scott
