• Seth M’s 1974 Motobecane Mirage

We’re enjoying another Mirage today; this one is few years older, but no less enchanting. This is Seth M’s 1974 Motobecane Mirage.  Seth, you took a strikingly symmetric and pleasing photograph, yet you still managed to add a touch of chaos with a skyward pointed saddle and a non-cycling specific water bottle.   Careful detail and willful carelessness, what an enviable state of mind.

I had been looking around everywhere online through Craigslist for a ten speed and couldn’t find anything. This was my first ten speed and my only ten speed at the moment, so I went cheap. I typed in local garage sales in google and found a listing that had bikes. I pulled up to the garage sale and saw a nice white ten speed sitting there! I said out loud in my car, “I AM BUYING THAT” and so I did for $25!!!!! Brought it home and wanted to fix it up immediately! so I went to a local bike shop and bought new tires, handle bar tape, some spray paint, and got a tune up. all together I have spent $60 on this and I love it more and more every day! I hope everyone enjoys the picture I have of it!

Thank you so much for your website. It is one of my daily bookmarks!

    Thanks Seth

Very good buy. I love the bar-end shifters! I think 25.00 for a (Made in France) MotoBecane Mirage in what appears to be very good (un-restored) condition is a great deal.

A Real Deal ! I should have done more searching/ I paid 6 times that for a similar steed. Love the handlebar color of red tape.

your bike looks great! I just picked up my first 10 speed from goodwill last week for 10 bucks:) No better feeling. HAHA. its a mid 70′s free spirit pinnacle. I pretty much wanna keep it all stock. just wanna replace the tires, new tape and repaint it. I was wondering how u repainted it and still kept the decals so clean? did u paint on the letters yourself?
