Another OTSG First for our fine Thursday enjoyment Stephen S’s Velosolex LaParisienne.
On a side-note: If any of you are going to the BikeSnobNYC book signing tonight at On The Route in Chicago; I will be there and I will have an extra OTSG T-Shirt that I don’t want to carry home.
I submit to you today yet another bicycle I’ve not heard of? It’s a french built Velosolex, LaParisienne model. Just picked it up yesterday so you’re seeing it as I got it. Not much out there about it . . . I guess some were made with Reynolds tubing, alas mine was not, but I was hoping. I did buy it from the original owner, but it appears to be “well used”. It’s in perfect working order, but the frame has more than it’s fair share of scratches etc. I almost didn’t buy it but once I saw the Simplex Premiere derailleur and the Mafac Racer brakes I was sold, as well as the rims which would allow me to completly restore an old Peugeot I have, unless someone can tell me something interesting about this old bike that may prompt me to keep it as it??? Well, it’s old, and it’s a ten speed, so I thought it should be here . . . pie plate and all!
