• Update Post: Hugh’s Sportex 12

Here’s an update from Hugh on an OTS he submitted sometime last year.  This is his Hughbilitated Sportex 12.  Hugh, you know I’m your biggest fan, but I have one gripe with this beauty.  Why on earth did you opt for the black seat post?  Please tell me it was the only thing available in the correct diameter! Nevertheless, beautiful work and we’ve come to expect nothing less.

    Hey Cameron,

I thought I would send you an update on the Sportex 12. I finished it a few months ago. But I was not pleased with the brake-levers and cork. So here it is with some “refurbished” drilled levers with new hoods. And also some natural-look cork tape. I also added a set of old-style traps. I wanted to build a bike to replace my beloved Fuji Gran-Tourer S.E. It`s to cold to test ride, So I`m not sure if I succeeded or not.

    Cheers,Hugh from Highland

Cameron, As usual you are right on the money. That was the only post I could locate in the correct size. And I was determined that, it would have a micro-adjust post. A micro-adjust post is a real nice improvement for very little money. Wait till you see the bike I am doing right now. It is sweet!

Thanks, And yes Kenda K35 Gum-Walls 90 psi. I have had good luck with them. (except one) which the supplier quickly replaced. I was having trouble with that “other brand” not seating properly on some of the wheels (particularly Schwinn)
