• WayneR’s Giant Quasar

More randomness:  This is WayneR’s garbage day queen, a late 80s Giant Quasar complete will yellowing pie plate. I’ve said it a million times before—some think cycling went south with the invention of carbon fiber, I say it was when they went to the plastic pie plate!

I found this Giant Quasar in the trash on the side of the road. Someone else’s trash was my treasure. It has a chromoly frame and suntour components. With only a few adjustments, some new handlebar tape, and a lot of cleaning, this bike was ready to ride. I’m not sure about the year, but if I had to guess, somewhere in the 80′s.

    Thanks Wayne

Excellent find for sure. And a real nice job cleaning it up. I recently traded for a KHS “Triathlete” my neighbor
found at a local dumpster.Maybe there should be a yearly
award for the best curb-side garbage day rescue?

Very good entry level bike. Sold in the 200-300 range; year was 88 or 89 I believe. Only weakness was the stamped steel rear hub. I had to rebuild the rear wheel for a friend of mine with an old shimano 600 hub and dt spokes. Excellent garbage pick.
