I have a 75 Grand Prix, Red, nearly in mint condition. I was wondering if anyone knew how much it’s worth.
    Thanks

I just sold a 1973 Grand Prix, stripped down to a single-speed and totally rebuilt, for $225 in NYC.

That’s very probably a 1972. In 1973 they changed to a no-name crankset because Nervar could not keep up with demand. They also started building frames and possible even assembling some of these bikes at Raleigh’s Dutch subsidiary, Gazelle. Those bikes have a sticker at the base of the seat tube that identifies them. This bike originally did have the Simplex Prestige derailleur.

I have a 1972 Gazelle built Grand Prix. After 72 they changed the lettering from script to italic block.

It was my Dad’s. He was Dutch and English – like the bike. In 2014 I did some work and updating/upgrading to it. Spent a few bucks on a new wheel set, tires, a new generator-LED lighting system (B&M), a Brooks B72 saddle, Millbrook bag, MKS slightly wider pedals and Cinelli cork tape. The original paint, gears and chain were just fine. I disassembled the headset and bottom bracket. Cleaned them up and repacked the bearings with Mobil 1 synthetic grease. All new cables. Even the straddle cables on the brakes.
Kool Stop makes the salmon brake pads to fit the original holders.
I really enjoy riding it. I’ve had it on the NY 5 Boros Tour twice so far.
