This is William P’s 1979 Vista Elite. Here come the, “Is that fork bent?” comments.
I have gotten another OTS!! I got this 1979 Vista Elite frame off of e-bay and built it up with period components – I took it out today for 11 miles and it rides great!
1979 Vista Elite
Made with Araya 631 tubing – frame paint is 90% original – I only touched up some bad scratches and a rust spot. The decals are intact.
This bike was originally equipped with Shimano 600 Arabesque components – I had some good vintage components laying around – here’s what’s on the bike:
Crank: first generation Shimano Dura-Ace – 1975 with 48 X 39 rings
Front Derailleur: Campy Record – 1977
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Crane – 1973-80 Cog – 13-24T
Brakes: Dia Compe 500 – 1976 – 81
Seatpost: SR Laprade – 1990
Stem, levers and bars are from mid ‘90’s mountain bike
Seat: Trico confort seat 1995
Pedals: Campy Record (1975) or Shimano Adamas platform(1981)
I like the upright position since I’m over 50 and a bit large in the stomach.
Thanks Bill
