• Zymurgist’s 1977 Schwinn Varsity

Today’s bronze beauty is Zymurgist’s 1977 Schwinn Varsity. Z, I love the colorful intro, and good luck on the century. The late Ken Kifer did his early touring on a 1965 Varsity, so you should be fine.

    Hi!

I just got a 1977 Women’s Schwinn Varsity! Bought it on craigslist for a song… I think everything’s original except the seat. And the doohickies I added… ;) EVERYTHING on it was in excellent shape when I bought it… All I had to do was put on a new coat of clean and replace the tires. It’s my first road bike and I’m in love! I’m still trying to find some touch-up paint and maybe some replacement decals to make it REALLY spiffy. I plan on riding it in my first century ride next year (to heck with those light weight lightweights!!)

    Thanks!

    Thanks Zymurgist

Sweet ride. I ride a 72 Varsity with chrome fenders 21 miles/day commuting and rode it 65 miles one day last July for Tour De Cure. A Varsity is an incredibly durable machine, and it is also a great ride. You rock!

When it is warm and dry I ride the heck out of my ’82 Continental which is basically a chrome forked Varsity and it never lets me down. You will do fine with this bike.
