Alice’s 1977 Schwinn Sportabout “Birdie”

Since we are covered with a foot of snow in the Upper Midwest, I thought it would be nice to see a bike that screams tube tops, knee socks and beautiful spring time weather. Alice (from California) sent in this ‘77 Schwinn that certainly does the trick. All this picture needs is a basket and a red and white picnic blanket. Thanks for sharing “Birdie” with us Alice.
Side note: Look at the size of that reflector on the handle bars!

This is Birdie, my 1977 Schwinn Sportabout. She was abandoned on the curbside on trash day, rusty but all original, even her bar tape. I replaced her chain, cleaned off a lot of rust and repacked her freewheel. She’s a fun ride.
