The thrill and honor of today’s Street Seen entry ranks right up there with the OTSG being quoted in the New York Times. This is because it was sent in by none other than BikeSnobNYC. Known primarily for his biting wit and hilariously creative references and writing style, he is also (though not openly) a big fan of old 10-speeds. He claims he spotted this ragtag beauty in Brooklyn, but judging from that stem to seat height ratio this could be a ride from his personal collection.

“Seen in Brooklyn.” I love it when they say “10 Speed” on the top tube!

Thanks Snob
Rounding off this stellar Week Of Schwinns is this mint, one owner, 1979 Schwinn Le Tour sent in by Dennis in Indiana. Happy Schwinn Week to all–see ya Monday.

Serial No. S1987515 1680–Head badge I am the original owner-please don’t kick the tires!
Bob—owner of the cherry Sears Free Spirit in the hunt for May OTSOTM—has sent us another from his extensive collection of rescued road bikes. This little mixte, White’s Performer, is one mysterious little Miss. I only came across 3 other references to a White’s Performer on Google, and one of those is Bob’s for sale listing. As Bob points out in his email, this does appear to be a rebadged Huffy Aerowind, but I can’t come up with any supporting evidence. Oh well—call it what you want, but I just call it sweet.

Here’s another oddity. This looks like the same frame as the Huffy Aerowind but is badged “White’s Performer” Has the same pinched downtube and the same suede saddle as the Aerowind. Also has the same weird seat adjustment as the Aerowind. I love this site, keep up the good work!
Thanks Bob
